I live in senior housing. I live in Marino, it's 415 Bleecker Street. Um, Price Right is down the street. 501 Bleecker, that street across from the firehouse, um, has not been snowed in 2 years. It hasn't been shoveled. Um, as seniors, my fellow People that live, we have to walk with carts in the street. We have to, you know, some people 65 and 70 walking down the street because we cannot walk on the sidewalk. And I'm just concerned if there's anything we can do about it. I'm hearing that the owners has been fined. Obviously that's not doing anything. I was hoping that the city can shovel it. I see they come and shovel the park, Chancellor Park, why they just can't go across the street and just run through there one quick time to make a path for the seniors that live.

Okay. And then you also have Chancellor Street. They have mixed seniors in there too, so we all go shopping there. Many seniors don't have vehicles where I live, so we have to walk there, and, um, it's dangerous to walk in that street, especially coming back from Price Right if you're on that side, because the cars are behind you. So I'm just here just to bring up the issue. I don't know what could be done. I don't know what the options is, but something needs to be done, even if we don't, you know, give somebody a contract to go and do these empty lots or something. But just to ignore it, somebody's going to get hurt. I can foresee it. Um, that's it. That's just what I have.

Oh, taxes, oh taxes, how much we all dread taxes. With interest getting high and money getting low, what is Utica to do? According to the Urban and Economic Development report, in regards to a brownfield cleanup, as a rural city, Utica suffers from poverty, 29% versus 13%. In New York State and has a crushing property tax rate of $15.13 per thousand dollars, which is double the New York State medium of $7.05 per thousand dollars. Over the past 3 years, taxes have increased 7.8%, 14%, and 3.

The mayor claims that we are in economic crisis, yet he wants to hold executive sessions to discuss pay raises and lock the public out. Just like the entry rebuild is not for security but to prevent it and make it harder for people like myself to ask questions. How much is this barrier going to cost the taxpayers this crisis. Then Utica will have private security, not Utica Police, at the front desk, costing the taxpayers even more. Mr. Galime, tear down this wall. What needs to come up is the Nexus complex that I had a chance to check out today. Wellness— when they Wednesday's is a one-stop shop for many of the medical-related questions, including insurance, that we all know is real fun this year. Get your blood pressure checked out too. Dee dee dee dee dee. There's a killer out there. This killer is sneaky and silent. It can be lurking in your basement now. You will not see it. Or smell it. That killer's name is carbon monoxide. If it was not for Utica's beloved fire chief checking up on some numbers I was getting off my stove, it may have taken out the Utica Crier. Bob Marley hit it on the head. To say it bluntly, Utica needs to hold these bad actors accountable. A new task force is needed to— within the powers of the Common Council. Time to protect the common people. Pass Local Law Number 4 of 2024, registration and posting of owners' and managers' information and designated agents. This will help hold these absentees and Baggs actors accountable for the mistreatment of other human beings. We all have a responsibility to those people that have no choice but to live in squander.
